I thought about getting Snorlax. Tentacruel could be cool too.

This is wrong. You should choose Venusaur. Sub + Leech seed + sleep powder + frenzy plant? Kicks ass, and you don't use the most boring starter of the three (le lizard face, in case you hadn't guessed.)

My opinion is that you don't have a pokemon capable of flight there. Either go with Dodrio or hack your game to give the National Dex at the start and use Crobat.

Maybe not Frenzy Plant, but why not sub? It keeps your Venusaur alive as it leech seeds the opponent to death, so it can be used even in a disadvantageous matchup

Man, Gen 1 is my Gen! I used to play Blue on a black and white game boy pocket. I liked using the ones no one else would use.
