>>13223332Why did you think that it was because I "don't like what they like"? Nevermind, I'll answer anyway. Warning, might be long!
Smogon was fine before the fifth generation started, where they banned literally everything that was slightly harder to handle and NONE OF THE BANS WERE JUSTIFIED.
I have discussed many of the bans at length here, including the Blaziken ban, Excadrill ban, and other bans, and refuted every "reason" for banning them (search the archives if you care to read these) as well as giving many examples of strategies that make these threats non-issues.
But some people said that the things I mentioned were "gimmicks" even though I've got to ~2000 rating on showdown with these so-called gimmicks.
Which brings me to my next point - that smogon spreads an environment of low creativity, because they simply refuse to use anything that isn't standard rain or standard sand - and then they are surprised that certain things crap on such teams! That's because these teams aren't really very good - the only reason they appear to work is because everyone else is also using the same five or so teams with slight changes. During the Excadrill era, people were whining that many matches ended with an Excadrill speed tie - well, then they should have used some different fucking team, instead of hopping on the easy sand bandwagon!
Sure, I could in theory "play somewhere else", except I'd be playing with the same 10 people every time. The reason everyone goes to smogon isn't because they are somehow superior to other communities, but because people don't want to play the same opponent all over again. There's a difference between what people want, and what they are willing to tolerate - this is the reason it's so hard for any societal change to happen at all - people will whine for a while but accept mostly everything that happens. Convenience almost always prevails. But I digress...
I hope this answer is satisfying to whoever reads this!
