Gastly has the honor of being the first ever Ghost Type Pokémon, plus the honor of being the first Pokémon on this list. He's the reason uptight parents freaked out in the '90s (him and the game's promotion of evolution. Go figure). And while there have been numerous cooler ghosts since (see: the next two evolutions of this guy), Gastly is still the first, and a fan favorite. Though he was a lot scarier before we got that Silph Scope. - JACK
