Gen 1 & 2 fans represent a whole.
This is split when Gen 3 happens with a large fraction dropping pokemon at the time while the rest buy it. This produces lower sales does it not?
A fraction of people return to pokemon and buy the Gen 4 games but not enough to bring it back to it's original sale levels.
At this point the larger fraction of people that left have decided to play Gen 3 on an emulator to see what they have missed.
Now some of them tell their friends to change to emulators because it's free or whatever.
A small fraction switches to emulators while the rest buy the game which brings the sales back down but not to Gen 3 levels.
Let's say that everyone in this group enjoyed all of the games.
Would that not mean that each gen has the same sized audience but cannot be seen in the sales?
I'm sorry if this didn't make a bit of sense but I haven't had sleep in ages so I'm not exactly at 100%. I'll try and rewrite it if the thread is still here after I get a decent amount of sleep
