they said that team flair is only out to make money. But they also look like they could be fashion themed as well. So maybe they make money by skinning pokemon alive and turning there pelts into fur coats.

Team Magma only used one pokemon that was ground type and it was Numel which is Fire/Ground. Thematically they had the same firey red thing going on. I agree they aren't the same but there we're plenty of other options for creative unique teams that didn't have any crossover with old ones.
