I completely agree. The visuals were great, the towns were all fun to explore and shit. I love the whirl islands area. So many feels from Crystal from when I was a kid. Heart Gold/ Soul Silver was really fun for me, I know a lot of you guys dislike it.

And also Unova was a complete circle and the characters held your dick the whole time. It felt too fucking easy, even for a childs game. In Johto you had a dick for an enemy and really no friends (1 if you count lyra who's barely in the game). You're pretty much alone the whole time.

Least favorite region. Level scaling is awful. Mon distribution is awful.

GameFreak couldn't come up with enough content that they felt the need to tack on the last region. In a half-assed way too.

Platinum's Sinnoh is way better. Only good town/city in Johto is Ecruteak. Sinnoh has Pastoria, Sunyshore, Snowpoint etc.

B/W 2 Unova has much more content than Johto despite it's linearity and is a huge improvement over B/W's Unova. Johto is a shit region and always will be.

They only blocked off access to Black City/White Forest. Maybe you need to stop over exaggerating and accept that B/W 2's Unova is a great improvement over B/W's Unova.

Bollocks, they blocked off loads. You can't go to Skyarrow Bridge, nor right of Nimbasa, there's Clay Tunnel, that chamber in Mistralton Cave. There's more, I don't remember the others.

The same people wanked on about how Pokemon like Gyarados were in every game, got BW which were a fresh, and then worship B2W2 which has more older Pokemon than Unova ones. And it's essentially the same game, you still get stuff like Mienfoo really late.

And they didn't address the linear thing at all.

I will concede the fact about the blocked areas but to say B/W 2 is worse off from it is stupid. The single player campaign is big enough already and having those areas for post-game is pretty neat. The original B/W had little to no post-game which was the main flaw of those games.

You're joking, right? BW has Relic Castle, the Dreamyard interior, and the entirety of east of Nimbasa and east of Opelucid.

It just irks me that they could easily make it less linear, but they don't. Admittedly if it was proper open-world, it might deter from the story a bit, but opening a few routes up wouldn't harm anyone.

It was small compared to Platinum, HG/SS and B/W 2. You can also argue that they should have opened those areas as well since they were blocked off. Pokemon is a linear series anyway although I hope Kalos has exploration.

Honestly less fun than Kanto by a very large margin. Kanto had interesting routes, alright characters, an acceptable evil organization, and definitely at least the 3rd best set of mons. Johto had nothing, and I'd honestly rather they have skipped it and went straight to RSE with the fixes so GSC fans aren't able to flaunt the "it fixed the problems with RBY" garbage. It's not because of GSC that the problems were fixed, it was because of GameFreak.

Pretty good region, in the middle when compared to the other regions. No clue what people are talking about when they throw the word "empty" around to describe it. Loved the Whirl Islands, Cyanwood, Goldenrod City, Lake of Rage, Route 45+46, the Ice Path, Mt. Silver and the Ruins of Alph.

I'd probably rank the regions, as far as an interesting design standpoint:

Hoenn > Sinnoh > Johto > Kanto > Unova

Johto and Kanto are just less on rails than Unova, and Johto always felt like it had more stuff in it than Kanto. And dem dungeons, GSC probably had the best caves of any gen. Mt. Mortar was completely optional but it was huge. The Whirl Islands were also gigantic, but you wouldn't see even half of them if Lugia was all you were after.

In my opinion Hoenn looked absolutely beautiful. I use to hate Sinnoh but I think it's because I don't like the Gen 4 Pokemon. Kanto would be third because the bike path and the bottome right routes. If I can include the Sevii Islands i'd say its about equal to Sinnoh. Johto felt too bland and quick, Unova was too easy
