They don't care if Satoshi specifically created the fainting concept in Pokemon because he didn't like the idea of killing each other, or any of the many, many steps taken to steer clear from the idea that animal abuse is acceptable - what PETA sees is an opportunity to take a well known franchise concerning mystical creatures and throw it in the face of people who enjoyed or continue to enjoy it and call them enablers of animal violence.
These people do not care about animals. They are a collective of self-abosrbed wackos running around under the pretense that they are morally obligated to bitch and condescend to you because you had the nerve of eating meat or owning a pet.
