It could even replace the Lv. Monsters, ie:
"Starter Squirtle: During your standbyphase if this monster is face up on your side of the field you may tribute it in order to special summon 1 'Starter Warturtle' from your hand or deck. Your deck is then shuffled."
"Starter Warturtle: if this monster was specialsummoned by the effect of 'Starter Squirtle' it gain's the following effect *Once per turn you can discard 1 spell card from your hand to the graveyard in order to destroy one card in your oponents Spell and trap card zone* During your standby phase, if this monster is faceup on your side of the field, you may tribute it in order to specialsummon 1 'Starter Blastois' from your hand or deck."
"Journey Partner: Search your deck for one card with 'starter' in it's card name and add it to your hand. Your deck is then shuffled."
"Oak's surprise: Select 2 cards in your graveyard with the word 'starter' in their card name, or which is called "Journey Partner" and add them to your hand"
"Experience Share: Select 1 monster on your side of the field with 'starter' in it's card name, you may send that monster to the graveyard in order to special summon 1 monster listed in it's card text from your hand or deck, that monster is treated as though it were specialsummoned correctly"
