My suggestion is simply to go digital.
From the very limited info you've given,
my best suggestion would be to import a NA 3DS and just go Canadian digital.
Oh yeah, get a bigass SD card, too, lol.

Do it nigga, there seriously is no reason to not import it. America gets other games faster and cheaper. It's worth to wait a week or two more to play the game.

American here, and this is the strongest argument for importing an XL from here. Not all games get a worldwide release like X/Y, and we typically do get games before Europe does.
Plus if they're cheaper, then fuck yeah do it man. Just don't treat it like a child and keep track of it so you don't end up losing it and your entire digital game catalog.
