I didn't think fairy would be much of an option considering nobody has had the chance to use it yet, not all the pokemon are even confirmed for the type and there is few known "fairy" moves. I think it would be hard for anyone to say that it's their favorite type already.

I guess fire is my favorite type. It always feels like a very strong type when I have it, plus it's just cool. My first mon ever was a charmander, and my charizard was my first bro. I got him to 100.

I also like poison/ground, since the male nido line are my favs. Dragon is cool, but they're just too good. Dark and ghost are neat concepts, but aren't handled right, imo.

I like grass too, and flying. Electric is nice to have.

Many types have a purpose. Types I dislike are:
normal: shit strengths
poison: shit strengths and weaknesses
grass: shit weaknesses
rock: shit weaknesses
ice: not necessary, didn't really like any until Froslass
dragon: seems like a cop out to use, although I like some dragon type pokemon
bug: I'm used to the older gens, where they had shit moves

But I have often used fighting, flying, ground, ghost, fire, water, electric, psychic, and dark.
My favorite types to use are type combos: the fire/fighting type, the electric/flying type, the dark/ghost type, and the pure ground type.

I find bugs irl to be something fascinating, a little force of nature that we cant see.
They're everywhere, there's a ton of different ones and everyone as an unique trait.
With pokemon we have giant fucking bugs with some kind of special powers (some are made of steel, others can use fire, etcetc) so yeah bug is the best type.
Fuck dragons and mythological creatures, I don't need them when I have a 1 meter tall wasp or an ant made of steel.

Dragons are based on monsters from mythology or ancient times, be it loosely or heavily

There's Druddigon, Haxorus, and Altaria, to name a few

Now, what does Bug have? Most of them are just normal bugs but with exaggerated features. I will admit Parasect is a good one, but that's about a quarter of the well designed Bugs.

As you said, they have Parasect, a bug that's been taked over by a fungus.
They also have shuckle, a pretty unique pokemon in terms of design and battling.
Then there's Beedrill, it's based on some kind of asian hornet, it's 1 meter tall and it has drills/swords/giant needles.
Then again you have Escavalier, a bug inside a helmet that acts like a knight.

Kingdra is based on a weedy sea dragon
Altaria is based on a Peng
Flygon is based on a Dragonfly
Salamence is based on a stereotypical European dragon
Garchomp is based on a land shark and possibly a jet
Haxorus is based on a T-Rex
Druddigon is based on a Gargoyle
and Hydriegon is based on a Hydra

I don't think I'm missing any of the non legendary Pokemon

I'll add two mons more, there's vespiqueen, based on a hive queen, but she doesn't look at all like a real hive queen, she has a quite unique design.
Then there's volcarona, which is pretty unique itself (a bug/fire pokemon is quite original, don't you think?).
