3 was my favourite, though 2 was the best.

1 was great and had some fantastic Pokemon and elements, though.

Even though I have them ranked, there's a very small number separating them.

I liked 2000 when I saw it back in the day, but on a rewatch it's one of the worst movies ever.
I mean... the pokemon movies are bad, but they're good for nostalgia.
I'd never actually seen anything past s2 of the anime (well, a occasional ep here and there as a kid when it was running) or any of the movies past 2 either. Even with the nostalgia I feel for 2000, I couldn't rate it over 3.

I liked it because it really spent a lot of time building the relationship between May and Manaphy and showed her struggle through the journey. And also because the ending went balls-out crazy with Ash becoming KING OF THE OCEAN and flying around like a super saiyan
