been playing Heart Gold the last few days
Im about to fight Whitney
was hoping to get some tips or reccomendations for my team

you can catch both before jasmine/chuck and if you are willing to train them I'd definitely use them

lol when I got the Whitney's Rock badge I had:

Quilava 23
Poliwag 22 (Got it on /vp/)
Noctowl 22 (Got it on /vp/)
Sneasel 22 (Got it on /vp/)

Try to have like 4 or 5 Pokes with low exp requirements. The level curve is kill.

I'm surprised nobody has yet suggested using the Machop you get from that trade in the department store. Or does nobody like Machop? Most of the time I'd solo the gym with Muscle, even if I ditched him afterwards.

So, OP... You got a Gastly (PC), Croconaw, Growlight/Magby (Pokewalker) and Flaffy..

That's pretty cool.. But you need an HM slave and a Flying type for fly..

You can and up having:
Feraligatr, Gengar, Ampharos, Magmar and Fearow? Sunflora? Togetic? Hypno? Nidoking? ( Moon Stone? Tohjo Falls, Ruins of Alph, Mom, Bug-Catching Contest first prize, Mt. Moon SquareMo, Volcano Path, Night Sky's Edge, Pokéathlon DomeMoWe,)

The possibilities are endless, OP..

I wanted to do a run using only pokes I'd never used before, so my current team is:
Bayleef
Hoothoot
Remoraid
Slugma
Gastly (I did use a Gengar a very long time ago in red version)
and
an HM slave Furret (whirlpool, cut, rock smash, and headbutt. I'm kicking myself because it cant learn flash)
