Yes. A move like ice punch would kill most rock Pokemon since many of them are ground as well.

Probably, from a competitive standpoint. There would just be waaaay too many threats around with nothing that could wall them, unless there's a major drawback to dual-type moves such as only 50% power.

Competitive has a decent shot of collapsing next gen anyway, it's perilously close to falling apart due to power creep already. I'd honestly rather play RBY or GSC competitive than BW2. I wish it were a little slower paced than it is today.

Didn't the leak state that dual type moves work with like this:
>Fire type move
>Dual typed with fighting
>Meaning the move will give fighting STAB but calculate weakness/resistance as if it was a fire move
>Therefore a Fire/fighting Pokemon using it doesn't get double STAB

Could you elaborate on that? I know there's stronger pokemon in the new gens but surely that just makes older pokemon go down a tier or two? What would cause competitive to 'collapse'?

most likely, there will be only a few of these double type attacks, and only a few pokemon will even get them

also, we just don't know what they will introduce that might affect this, like defensive choice items or whatever

in fact I think this will be one of the best things that improves creativity in competitive pokemon, so I welcome this with open arms

Not really. It'd just be like the new moves we got last gen that calculated special moves with physical damage. A move like Ice Punch would be a Fighting move that calculates Ice damage. Not complex, and we already have moves with similar mechanics in game now.

Might be ok but Steel-types are going to be even more OP than they already are if they get a decent one.
