They badmouth it because GF made it a physical fighter with very limited (or good) physical-fire moves. All we can do is sit and wait for Flare Blitz.

Well, pokemon like Alomomola, Lickilicky and Gorebyss also only shine in NU, and I don't see millions of threads making fun of them for it.

The only good moves he has are Flare Blitz and Facade (with Toxic Orb + Guts) to be honest. His movepool is VERY limited.

What's the problem with a mixed set running max atk with stuff like flame charge, bite, facade, superpower and running overheat in the special side, with 4 satk evs and hasty nature? I don't see overheat being even mentioned in flareon's smogon page, and I think it's very viable with its 95 base satk and shallow stab physical movepool.
