>>13295023this has actually irked the shit out of me for a long time, too. Dragon and Flying get a good bit of confusion in places, I think, as well. also, there seems to be poor definition of the types and their domains in some examples
such as how "dragon" implies "flying serpent" from the get-go, winged or otherwise. so why does Dragonite need the Flying type again?
also, Poison and Ghost types were originally the "underhanded" type. both included a lot of moves designed to cause suffering. but then the dark type supplanted that and became the more "underhanded" of the types (just look at a list of the dark type moves on bulbapedia. their names make my case.) however, some pokemon that were meant to be "underhanded" pokemon to begin with (the ghastly family in particular) got left as poison types, even though the new dark type would have suited their flavor and feel better. they fixed the ghost type's glitches after gen 1, but never corrected the duel-type ghost family's glaring weakness, nor did they realize that ghost and poison could have easily divided the role that dark plays anyway and avoided inserting the new type altogether.
other things that stick in my craw...
Venomoth: huge illustrious wings. can't learn fly.
Doduo and Dodrio: obviously a flightless bird pokemon. can learn fly without any problems.
Charizard and Gyarados: obviously dragons, but it feels like the devs were too pansy ass to just GIVE them the dragon type out of some skewed sense of game balance.
Kingdra: this faggot gets dragon type, though? this motherfucking glorified seahorse is a DRAGON, but GYARADOS isn't? FML.
every Flying/Normal type ever: sure, lets negate their only resistance with another type's only weakness! (not counting ghost and ground immunities, of course).
also, why in all of fuck is there only ONE out of nearly 700 pokemon that's a purely flying type?
