When I was a kid, I never had a handheld. The first one I got was the DS. Before that, I only emulated games. Have played Blue and Crystal before and then I left pokémon. I stopped watching the anime and the games. Time later, a cousin told me there are new pokémon games for GBA and the graphics were amazing. Ok, I said. So I began playing Gen III and the game was very fun. It was a completely blind run, I didn't know any of the new pokémon, I was learning about them while I was playing. When I had to help that kid to get a pokémon I was like "ok, whatever, let's get you a pokémon" and the pokémon he get is a Ralts. I had no idea what it was, but I wanted one. I cought one and trained her as the leader of the team along with the starter. When evolved into Kirlia I said this pokémon was very cute and I love it. But when evolved into Gardevoir I fell in love with her. She was the most beautiful pokémon I have ever seen, and quickly became my favorite. At the moment I had no idea about fandoms or whatever, so I didn't know what other people thought about Gardevoir.
Since then, I have had a Gardevoir in every team, in every game. I even bought SoulSilver specially to trade a level 1 Ralts and beat the game just with Gardevoir. Also, she got to level 100 during the battle with Red, it was the first pokémon I ever got to level 100, her name was Iris (BW wasn't around yet).
And that's why Gardevoir is my favorite pokémon, I know how other people see her, I know there's a lot of porn of her, but I don't care. I love her because of the experience I've had with her instead of what it is associated to her.
And just as additional information, I have never fapped to Gardevoir.
