Playing a small friendlyish local tournament. 3rd gen, mainly UU/NU pokemon and I need some advice.

I really want to have Hypno on my team, but I lack a special sweeper. Would he work for that role at all or would it be best to make him go some kind of tanky staller? I don't really play the game competitively and this isn't much of a serious competition either.
