I just hope that it's something that has a "hard-activation". As in, I can command when to tap into the form. I'd rather not see any of that Zen Mode bullshit..

Loving the designs too. I hope the rest of the starters get the same treatment.

I don't really care, this is essentially the first Pokemon game i'll actually own (i've played thorugh yellow twice on my friends GBC). As such I don't really have anything to compare it to.

I had the same experience with Halo: Reach, i'd only played Combat evolved and I was looking at the shitstorm in the Bungie forums about how Halo was turning into COD and completely ruined. Played it and loved it.

The mega evolutions are pretty cool. The pokemon and designs they chose all feel pretty natural, and make sense as something new that couldn't just be traditional evolutions. I think Lucario and Blaziken are the best examples of this.

That said, this is some Digimon shit. Anyone who denies it never understood the differences between Digimon and Pokemon in the first place. It feels like they added Digimon elements in a Pokemon-feeling way, so I'm optimistic about it.

My greatest hope is that the Mega Evolutions don't mean we'll get fewer actual new Pokemon, like the many gen 4 evos did. This would be even worse.

I'm not to angry about it. I see it as a sort of "overcharged" mode caused by using the megastone. The fact that it requires a particular item to use reminds me of the form changing powers of Castform. Plus, X and Y is going to deal with the manipulations of genes and junk, right? this could play into that.

I like it just because it gives something new to some pokemon people forgot about. I hope a lot more Pokemon get it. It's optional so it shouldn't be focused on too much but at the same I can understand the argument of it looking weird, it's basically turning the simple creatures into something...it's hard to actually describe it. It's like a glam-rocky kind of look. You could have David Bowie or you could give him the Red Stone and get Ziggy Stardust.

To be honest, at first I thought "what the fuck is this shit nigga". But then as more info flowed in about it, it started to grow on me. It's actually a really genius idea -- buffing old mons without clogging up the dex with evolutions that don't appear in-game (lolsinnoh)

I'm starting to believe the megaboosts really are temporary boosts. Things like Huge Power Mawile and Adaptability Lucario =with boosted stats= would smash the metagame in half (even by vgc standards) and Gamefreak did say they're going for balance in this game.

If it really is temporary, I'd imagine you'd have a few turns before you lose mega status, so you'd have to be like a choice bander. And I sure hope it's not permanent even for the battle, SD+Adaptability Lucario is fucking scary.

As far as the designs go I rather like most of them. Blaziken especially. Lucario is the only one I take issue with because it really does seem to go overboard with the details, but then considering the kind of audience that loves Lucario in the first place I assume they'll for the most part be okay with it.

At least it seems like all starters will get a Mega form. Wouldn't make any sense to give Blaziken one otherwise. All other Pokemon seem pretty random, but I think it's quite interesting Mewtwo has one. That implies that legendaries might also get one, which will probably result in quite an upstirr in the Uber tier.

Otherwise, those mechanics sound weird. While it's pretty much confirmed items are involved, there seem to be two different kinds of item involved. Especially the fact it's a "Mega Stone" seems weird (normally stones do some evolution stuff and are not held, right?). I also don't think there will be Items like Blastoiseite and shit for each mon, so I just guess Blazikenite doesn't really have anything to do with that Mega form.
