In my very, very humble opinion, we now have reached the point where "overdesigned" can really be applied with those 3.

I never liked to see that word used, or comparison to Digimon made, but Mega-Blaziken/Absol/Lucario make me fear for what we might see soon.

Still, I'm not against the gimmick. I love both Megamawile and Ampharos, so there is hope.

Absol isn't overdesigned in that sense, as it only has two colors and is relatively simple in design, it's just that I'm not sure what its design is with those wings. Maybe it's a guardian angel that warns of disaster?

I can't read Japanese, but I can use logic. Look at the third line of text by the Mega form: there's a title, then two words with a dot between them. Near the base form, after the same title, there's just the first word. And this is certainly the type line, because after the same title work on the other Pokemon, the number of following words (one, or two with a dot between them) matches the known type.

So... no type change to base form.

Ampharos only gains the secondary Dragon typing when in Mega - unlike Mawile who is now classified as Fairy/Steel in both forms.

please. if you honestly think they are going to be permanent by all means let yourself believe what you want. the stone may be used to change their forme but you have no proof that it is permanent. for all you know it could either be a key item or a hold item that lets them change in battle. in any case I have at least provided solid evidence that the formes have been showcased to be interchangeable, you are drawing conclusions out of "b-but game freak has always had stones that evolved my Pokemon permanently". all that's left I be said is for you to wait and find out your answer when they are officially announced. but don't try to act too surprised when they end up being "formes"

Either of us could be right or wrong, Hell both of us could be right. Its an evolution that's an alternate form for the final stage evolution that's permanent and they can swap into and out of.

Why call them evolutions if they're temp? Why not call them "mega forms"?

IMO it may be like this ...
Do special training with them
Have them hold w/e item while battling
Maybe even max out the love system stuff
Randomly in battle they evolve ... not based on gaining levels or w/e, they just evolve at some point into a form that's simply a stronger version of them with a different stat-set/ ability/ type or w/e.
They stay like that for now on.

I think they opted for "evolution" because all of the Pokemon that have been showcased (so far) have been at their final stages in there evolutionary chains. I'm not claiming that is why they named them that, but so far it's the only reason I could think of that seems to make sense.

My thoughts exactly. This reveal has been stupid beyond belief. I really wanted Absol and Mawile to have ACTUAL evolutions. Why the fuck even bother animating 3D Models if you can't see them outside of battle? Why even add stat, ability, and type changes if it's only temporary? As a matter of fact, why the fuck even call it 'Evolution' when there is no sort of permanence to the fact? Just call the fucking mechanic Mega Forms and be done with it. To be fair, that is pretty much the only place where you will be seeing your pokes 3d models, outside the obvious pokedex entry (which it's highly likely you will get to see megaevolutions too anyway) and party menu. It's also the place where you are going to see them do more animations altogether (Menus and pokedex will most likely stick to idle animations)

What happens when you stop moving, say, Mario in a 3d game? He stands "idle" in there... and the animation loops of him barely moving his arm and head (excluding of course when you let him idle for an extended period of time and his animation changes to "tired of waiting" or whatever)

I didn't feel like the dreamworld aspect of black and white was introduced too late in the game - for all we know this gym leader could end up being the second gym in the game and that won't be so bad.

also torchic has been confirmed as a event to be released on the day the game is slated to arrive, and I would expect if TPC wants to retain that this release be the first game in the series to release worldwide on the same day that the event coinciding with the games also run worldwide. (if that didn't make sense it's because I'm tired and I didn't bother reading it again, sorry lol)

Calling this now: the gym leader chick will use a Mega of a cool Kalos Pokemon, and afterwards she will describe or give to you the key to Mega Evolution, probably for your starter. Because let's face it, Blaziken getting it and the "starters are your partners" attitude GF promotes, they will want to showcase it.
Obviously Mega Evolution won't be found early in the game. It probably only works with fully evolved mons. So the gym leader probably introduces it around the point in the game you'll start getting Pokemon who can do it. In Kalos, it'll probably be the starters, a few "fan favorites", and maybe some legends.

Blazikenite sounds like its supposed to be based off of a stone. I'm guessing the mega stones will be specific for each Pokemon and have to be held for them to transform.

also the fact that these Pokemon either gain a type or a boost in stats makes the "evolution" part make sense. next month apparently will showcase more new mega evolutions and new Pokemon too
