If anything it's going to promote "hard and fast" gameplay. Defensive play is no longer good.

Well, the megastone will take the place of a meta item, the pokemon gets powered up by giving up access to things like leftovers, choice item, life orb, etc.

Doesn´t sound that bad to me.

About as much as Mewtwo's eventual two formes does Kanto, and the Kanto starters are confirmed by the leaker to be obtainable in game, so I'd be shocked if all three of them don't have mega formes as well.

No but there has been a lot of hype from people who aren't neckbeards and are from the older gen of Pokemon fans who will most likely not buy the game because of this.

And just because some genwunners that were probably 20 when they got Red\Blue will quit the game because of change, will GF destroy one of Nintendo's biggest cashcows? I don't think so. I'm just saying that fellow se/vp/ers should be more open to change, or we would still be playing Red\Blue.

Face it. Pokemon is not made for people like us. It's a game that has survived on new fans discovering it, not aging adults that flip shit over the smallest of things because they forgot how to have fun. Pokemon will go on long after those people quit.

The fact that they specified that Blazikenite isn't available in X and Y rather than just saying it's not available hints towards it being available in another game, so it's possible.

How can you know if the metagame is ruined?
All we know is that the Mega Stone is mandatory for the transformation to occur, but we don't know how it's triggered.
If your Pokemon is automatically transformed into it's sayan form upon entering the battlefield, there's a high possibility that it could be banned for competitive gaming.
Who knows, maybe there will be a move called something like, 'Power Ranger Morphing Tiem,' or some shit to fully activate the Mega Form procedure.
Also, I doubt this will "break" the metagame since you're taking up your item space in exchange for:
>30% more damage - Life Orb
>1/16 health recovery each turn - Leftovers
>status cure - Lum Berry
>50% Attack, speed, or Special Attack Boost - Choice items
But, that's just my thinking.

I want to say that it'll be activated right from the start of battle, because that's the only way I can figure that it makes sense, but from the videos, I'm guessing that's not the case. If they wanted to do that, they could've just made it like an Origin-form type thing where the pokemon stays the same as long as the item is equipped, but maybe they just wanted to show off the transformation cutscenes?
