I've had many shiny Pokemon in my time.

A few I got really lucky with:

I found a copy of Platinum for $5 at a yard sale after I had sold everything except for Silver, Soul Silver, White, and White 2 because I was dangerously low on cash (another story for another time, but I had every main series Pokemon game before that.) I had been Nuzlocking on that Platinum. Seriously, what is it about B2/W2 that just makes it seem really boring after a certain point?

Was hatching random eggs to clear out PC. On bout the 3rd outing I hatch a Shiny Blitzle and Shiny Scraggy.
They had poor stats for EV-training so I gave them to my lil bro for his run of Black 2.
He really enjoyed having them, felt like an awesome big sister~

You can get a shiny Dratini/Gible without an event in B2/W2 so everyone and their grandma can get one of those. Red Gyarados has been saturated to the point that it's worth less than shit. Raikou, Suicune and Entei were given out in great numbers so they're pretty common to have.

Also: Breeding for shinies, soft resetting for shinies, and 'hunting' for shinies is bullshit.

I have over ten shiny Pokemon and not one of them were obtained through 'shiny hunting' or any other method than pure dumb luck. Actively searching for a shiny Pokemon kind of cheapens the experience of it. Compare it to this:

You're looking for one of your socks, you find the sock.

You're raking around in the pockets of a coat you haven't worn in a while, and you find $20 you didn't know was there.

Which experience do you think was more satisfying?

Wailord was a bastard to find on Route 129, I found it was easier to fish for a high level Wailmer and just use a Rare Candy on it.

On my first playthrough of Emerald in like 2011 I managed to complete the Hoenn dex before beating the Elite Four. Great game, wish I'd gotten it sooner.

It's Adamant and has its hidden ability and perfect attack. Didn't pass down the Speed IV I wanted and I was planning on getting it Spore early as an egg move, but I will love it all the same.

I think this is my first useful random shiny, the only other ones have been a shiny Krabby and a shiny Paras in gen 2.
