You stupid fucking rich kids with your fancy Gameboy Advanced.
I grew up with a pack of Pokemon cards. I never even played video games until a few years ago because my family couldn't afford it.
It tormented my childhood, being the biggest Pokemon fan in town (tiny fucking town where only a few kids liked it) and only having cards.
I never got to feel the excitement of playing Gen I for the first time with a child's joy. I never got to feel the hype for Gen II. I saw the second movie in the theater and still have three Ancient Mew cards.
Gen III went right over my head, I had a thousand cards and watched the anime every Wednesday. I didn't get excited when Emerald came out because I didn't know shit about the games.
I went to a friend's house every weekend because he had all the movies on VHS, and we'd watch them while playing the card game we had no idea how to play.
I was super hyped when Diamond and Pearl were announced and made a habit of checking serebii every day. I begged my parents to get me a Ds. After an entire childhood of being left out, I called it quits and stopped caring altogether. Then last year I found my brother's old GBC with Red in it, played through it and thrust myself into the life of a wannabe Genwunner. That lasted a few months, then I got a look at what Gen V really was behind Vanillish, and got lucky when I got a 3Ds for my birthday (it was on sale). I got White a few days later.
Since then, life has been everything Pokemon.
I only wish I could have had the childhood of anyone else here.
You all have the option to be a nostalgiafag. I do not.
I enjoy every little thing Gamefreak gives me because I couldn't when I was younger. I never had the experiences most of you had. I had to leech the excitement from everyone else and pretend I had anything to be happy about.
I can appreciate the new stuff, no matter what it is.
