And as another anon has pointed out, their main target audience are kids, and most kids these days will probably be eating this whole "mega evolution" thing up.
TBH, I am, too. The idea of Pokemon being introduced to a Limit Break is pretty cool, and, considering they have to be holding the Mega Stone in order to do so means they won't be able to use any other items such as leftovers, life orb, or berries--just to name a few. (but really, its ANY hold item besides the Mega Stone)
Furthermore, to use your own choice of words, Pokemon have ALWAYS had such "uguu kawaii" &/or "anime [culture]" in them, since even Red/Blue.
Examples of "uguu kawaii" are any of the the Pokemon like Clefairy, Jigglypuff, Pikachu; in 2nd Gen, Pichu, Igglybuff
And as for Anime [Culture], the trainers get the little "[ ! ]" above their heads when they notice you just before initiating a battle.
They've always, in a small sense, been a "souless uguu kawaii anime" kind of game.
Know why? Because that kind of thing comes from the Japanese, and guess who makes these games?
If you guessed the Japanese, you're right.
