Dedenne & Raichu have orange fur, Pichu & Pikachu do not
Dedenne & Raichu have a white belly, Pichu does not and Pikachu doesn't anymore
Dedenne & Raichu have a soft tail, Pichu & Pikachu do not

Dedenne has antennas coming out of its pouches, Pikachu family does not

I had this idea, too.
Dedenne (electric/fairy) -> raichu (electric/fairy) and pichu + pikachu stay electric. raichu has these fairy like ears that pikachu hasn't so they don't have to retype the franchise's mascot

I'm okay with it but I don't think there is a need to cross out the Pikachu evo. Compatibility issues with previous games aside (not to mention fucking retarded as well), I think it would be cool to have two different Pokemon being able to evolve into the same Pokemon.

If Dedenne was any other color you wouldn't make any connection to Raichu, just a general one to the Pika line since it's the electric rodent of this gen.

What is the fucking point? There is absolutely no reason to go back and retcon a pokemon's evolution and then claim it as a new species all together.
