Like when you street pass Animal Crossing, you get a copy of their house that you can look at.

Depends heavily on the game

The major one (mostly because it's a default app) is Mii Plaza, you exchange Miis and can use them in minigames and trade puzzle pieces

Then there are games like Kid Icarus where you swap Weapon Gems, or Animal Crossing where you can see people's homes
