Why didn't they just limit Mega forms to three-stage pokemon? We'll miss out on so many permanent evolutions because of this battle mechanic.

I don't understand why people freak out about no evolutions.

Isn't getting a Mega form BETTER?

I mean, with an evolution, their specific goal is to change the pokemon. Look at Magmar to Magmortar.. Murkrow to Honckrow.. They all drastically change in design and purpose. They CHANGE your pokemon.

Not that change is a bad thing necessarily (I happen to like each one of those examples), but if your pokemon that you're wishing for gets an evo, you probably love the shit out of it, so getting an evo would change what you like about it. Plus an evolution presents a chance to ruin it. Right?

A Mega form instead keeps the pokemon as is, adds a temporary super buffed version of itself to spice it up and balance it. It keeps the essence of it's original design, even while mega. Isn't that completely better?

It is forced to hold an item. Not good for tanky pokemon who need healing items.

Kangaskhan isn't a tanky pokemon, it's a technical offensive pokemon with Fake out abuse.

Aside from that, even if it was a supposed "nerf", being able to attack twice in one turn is fucking brutal. Everything becomes at least neutral effective, if not super effective, has twice the crit ratio, and twice the chance for secondary effects. That, mixed with the likely boost to Attack/Speed is making Kangaskhan now OU potential.
Even aside from that, we still don't know the entire mechanics of everything. Though, from what we've seen, I find it highly unlikely that these Mega pokemon will be bad. At all.

eviolite is so overrated on this board it's astoniching. there's like, 10 pokes out of 600 that can ever pretend to use it. Yet everybody is claiming it literally prevent GF to ad evos in the game. get real, kids.
