Some unnofficial theory facts I came up with :
>Mewtwo is the first Pokémon to mega mutate, this was caused mainly by his modified genetics, impressive skills and constant training.
>CharizardTwo, VenusaurTwo, BlastoiseTwo and some of the other cloned Pokémons we saw with Mewtwo mutated as well after Mewtwo's awakening, but their power to megavolve is still uncontrollable and cause damage to the Pokémon.
>Some scientists leaded by Colress discovered this boost process and was first named "DNA Mega Mutation". They made some further research on how to expand and control Pokémon's strenght via this mutation and after a while they conceived the Mega Stones, a high-tech energy orb that trigger the form transformation and the energy boost, also giving the Pokémon the power to control it in battles.
> Earlier the Mega mutation were only reached by powerful cloned species, but after years of deep research in the mutation process and Pokémon genetics they come across a new way to implement this mega boost to normal species too. The new system was then called "Mega Evolution".
