All this new XY news is giving the urge to play Pokémon again. Should I tough it out until October or play a game to hold me over until then?

actually, its very possible if youre just completing the main game portion. (only the main series games doe)

Play through Yellow, then Crystal, then Emerald, then Platinum, then B1/W1 (your choice), then the second B/W game (B1->B2 / W1->W2), and then after you have finished all that, play X/Y when they come out.

Hard Mode: Complete the Pokedex in B2/W2
