Honestly, although I like them re-imagining the themes, I wish they'd stick a little closer to some of the older themes. The battle music gets close to the theme that we're used to, then just goes off on its own.

Wild Battle takes way too long to get started, and you have to listen to the intro of that song every time you hit a wild Pokemon. That's pretty bad on its own, but its magnified by the rest of the song being really repetitive and underwhelming. Gym Trainer theme has a really good beat to get you pumped up for the fight while having snazzy guitar in the background that doesn't distract you from thinking how to approach the battle. Trainer Battle is a bit busy, but it also keeps it from getting monotonous, and there's no unusual, ear-piercing instruments which helps as the song you'll hear the second most.

I just feel like the Gym Trainer battle is just not upbeat at all. Having it be upbeat just makes it more fun for me.

And just about every wild battle theme has the big intro to it.

It has to stay timid so they have somewhere to build to when you're in the red or fighting with your last Pokemon if they keep that feature. I'm slightly worried it won't sound as good coming from 3DS, but I might just be worrying too much.

This one is especially annoying, and it overuses really unusual instruments.
