I like MegaAbsol. In the original design, its horn and tail are scythe-like in shape, which some fans think may relate to the western personification of death, representative of death and destiny, as Bulbapedia mentions.
With MegaAbsol, the resemblance to scythes become less pronounced, and while the general shape may not be as good for offense, it still has potential, and I think that works.
In Absol's Pokedex entries, it's said to be found at places where disasters happened, or are going to happen. East of Fortree City, where it's almost always raining, and a Regi is nearby, along with Mt. Pyre, pretty much a mountain and a funeral area, both in one.
Then it shows up again in Giant Chasm, where a meteorite landed, making a crater, with Kyurem, which freezes things around it, including that entire crater, to the point that the trees aren't even visible beneath the snow.
It shows up in areas where there have been disasters, or are going to be disasters to warn others, but as a result it is thought to cause them, and often thought poorly for it.
With MegaAbsol, the thing that makes me like it is the wings. They're probably meant to resemble an angel, and the scythes, which allude to the reaper, are downplayed.
The Mega form is a form it takes in battle because Absol want to be seen in a better light. Not as omens of awful events, but those who warn before its too late. Like an angel.
With all that in mind, I think the design makes sense. It seems natural, and the implications its meant to have feel right. At least, in the Pokemon world. Outside, it's largely meant to be seen as cool, regardless of what theme and lore its designed around.
I like it. Sorry about being so wordy about this.
