I've used Torchic once before so I want a totally new experience.
Anyway, it'll be more useful if I EV train it than if I just use it in the main playthrough.

You are so retarded holy shit. This has nothing to do with fire/fighting at all. There was almost no reason to get fennekin when lileo and fletchling existed, and now that we are getting the best starter of all time WITH speed boost AND a blazikenite, there is now no reason to get fennekin other than dex entry, you are better off going froakie+torchic or chespin+torchic master race.

I admit it, anon, I disliked Chespin at first for this reason, but now it's grown on me and even though I do like Fennekin I've always loved Torchic so I'll do my run with Ches and Tor.

I'm probably just permaboxing the Torchic anyways. Maybe I can use it was trading fodder later on. I'm still on the fence for starters right now. I've been leaning towards Chespin, but I'm afraid its evolutions will look bad. If Fennekin indeed turns out to have a /Psychic evolutionary chain, then that might be enough to overcome my hesitation in choosing it because of lolfurries.
