Denryu is the Japanese word for electrical current. Since the pokemon has never had anything to do with dragons previously, this is more likely that John Gamefreak got cheeky after noticing ''ryu'' in the name and went from there and we got this neat new pokemon.

Seriously go into deviantart or tumblr or furaffinity or any art site and there are theories both stupid and good. Heck, some may speculate that dragons could be aliens.
