As long as the Mega Stones are held items, I don't see Smogon banning Mega Forms entirely, and I don't see why you think Game Freak wouldn't allow them in tournaments when they already decided on the 1 Mega per battle rule anyways.

Just because you are sick of genwunners doesn't make everything new automatically good. Whether or not this is a good choice for GF to make is yet to be seen however regardless of that it will have at least some effect on the meta and online play. Whenever you do something like this in a game you have to expect some backlash and it would be ignorant to dismiss everyone who is against it.
