Fuck this Permanent Evolution shit. Mawlicious and Absavior are going to break the game. There's always been a delicate balance between power now and power later in the Pokemon series. Mega Shellder, Metal Scyther, Mega Larvitar Dust Devil Mode are all capable of turning the game on its head, but you have to know how to play them and when (not) to Mega them. In contrast, single stage pokemon such as Audino, Tauros, Sableye, and Qwilfish are better used earlier on as support and to help drive your opponent into a situation where you can checkmate them with your Megas. They've reliable power, a customizable item slot, and attributes that give them good matchups against most pre-Mega pokemon, but care must be taken to avoid making big mistakes that give them a chance to transform as single stagers have an much harder time at scraping a countersweep than Mega Munchlax or Mega Shaymin do.
Permanent Evolutions break the structure of the game, giving you quite nearly all the power of a Mega Evolution - whatever difference between the two that exists will no doubt be made up for by Permies being able to run items like Leftovers and Life Orb - with none of the work or risk involved (unless you consider grinding in single player mode risky), and it's particularly sad that Game Freak doesn't seem to understand this.
