Gold was my first pokemon game. I didn't know who he was or why he was significant, I couldn't even make a connection to Ash since I didn't watch the anime at the time.

I used a Feraligatr and Electabuzz, don't remember much else.

I was at my house. My team consisted of a Tyranitar that I had just evolved, a Pidgeot, a Typhlosion, a Snorlax, a Machamp, and a Gyarados. They were all 10 levels under and I was not prepared at all. Needless to say, I was rekt.

Emerald is what restored my faith in Pokemon, and Steven was part of that. The lack of post game in RS was just disappointing after Crystal, but emerald patched up all my issues with RS except a visible day/night cycle.
