I think I'm going to have to stop coming to /vp/ at the end of September. Evolution stuff is the what I want spoiled the least. I want to feel the anticipation of getting a monster into the mid-20s and thinking "Is it going to be next level?" and then when it finally hits late-30s thinking "Goddamn stupid piece of shit single stage shithead"

It's been too long since I've experienced that.

Sableye can hold his own in fucking ubers against most of the tier. He doesn't need an evo to be competitively viable.
Not every pokemon needs to be part of a three evolution line that ends with 600 BST and their own little perfect niche in the meta just for them.

Altaria's a frigging cloud-bird. Again, how is dragon? Plus, there's way too many dragon/flying types IMO.

Flygon... Well, that's more a personal preference than anything. Would've loved an actually useful bug/ground, but if it was bug/dragon I guess that would be okay as well.

Altaria is a Peng which is a large Chinese cloud bird sometimes depicted with dragon features.

Actually, Ampharos' Japanese name has "ryu" in it, so it may have inspiration from dragons. Also, in Japan, adding a big fluffy mane is how you make something more draconian; it's the equivalent of adding big bat wings in the West.

Altaria seems to be based on the Chinese Peng, which are often portrayed with a dragon's head and whiskers.

Your idea of what is and what isn't a dragon isn't universal. Just because you don't understand something doesn't mean it doesn't actually make sense. It's really just chalked up to your lack of knowledge.
