The dragon typing with its electric is pretty neat, and the fact that it gets new dragon moves

But why Mold Breaker? Its ability based, its not like you can thunder grounds types.

Dragon typing is bad as well. Sure you get resistances but how many other dragon types do we already have with better stats? Plus they added a fairy weakness. Mold breaker is a terrible ability for Ampharos as well. So basically for a Mega without huge stat increases, still low speed and low Attack so no useful outage there it is pretty bad.

It might happen. It is one of those things that will decide if MegaAmpharos is decent or not. I mean they said moves like Dragon Pulse in the description. So I am going to grasp at straws and assume they meant more dragon moves are coming. I guess it comes down to what they decide but his learned moves is probably going to be retconned.

This thread raises an interesting issue. Now a trainer must take into account moves that might not be optimal during regular use, but would be awesome STAB options when a Pokemon mega-evolves and changes type.

Which makes for a doubly interesting issue, because if Johan is right and Mega Pokemon have to be the last ones on your team to evolve, then you've got essentially dead weight for most of the battle.
