Long ago there was a thread where OP asked which are our favourite generations and regions. I answered honestly and said Hoenn, I like all the generations, but Hoenn has an atmosphere that I really can't describe, I simply love it.
I thought it wouldn't be that big of a deal, until some anon replied me with all caps and started to cry about the trumpets. I didn't understand anything. At first I thought there was some kind of double meaning related to that word, so I asked what the duck he was talking about.
His crying got louder and he wept that the Hoenn games are unplayable, because there are trumpets everywhere, and he told me to search for the soundtracks to see for myself.
So I went to YT and listened to that track and noticed that the weeping anon was actually right, trumpets were everywhere. Silently I listened to that track for a couple of minutes, trying to understand what's so terrible about the trumpets, how could they make a whole game unplayable?
Suddenly I started to laugh.
Quietly at first, but louder every second. In the end I had tears in my eyes and my sides were devastated: I still didn't understand the anon's hate, how could anyone get that upset because of an instrument. I laughed like 10 minutes non-stop, then I started to speculate further. Was the weeping anon a troll? Can someone really hate a game because of one instrument? Then I started to notice that when Hoenn was mentioned, more and more people would cry about the trumpets. I didn't laugh anymore. I was simply confused.
That is my first meeting with trumpets, long ago.
