This! These fuckers. I always end up saving every single one I get because I don't know what to use them on. What are some good uses of rare candies, /vp/?

I used to use them to check IVs. Like I'd hatch a pokemon, level it up to 25 via rare candies, check the IVs and then reset

For one thing, ALWAYS save them until you're above Lv80. Eating a Rare Candy at Lv99 is roughly equivalent to going from Lv1 to Lv50. Using them under that sort of range is a waste.

Filling out your 'dex by catching 1st stage evos that are above their lvl requirement to evolve. Sped up completing the Unova dex quite a bit for me.

This. I actually stopped using them after Gen II and just sell them now. I used to keep them for their rarity but Gen V has made them a little more common.

I generally use them on some pseudo legendary or similar before the elite four. Afterwards they're sort of worthless but it's a convenient time-saver to turn a shelgon into a salamence or whatever a few levels quicker.

When I realised my team might be underleveled right before taking on Cynthia, I forcefed all the rare candy I had to my team. I won't need them later on anyway.
