To sit in a bench, you must stand in front of it and press 'A'
You will then get a prompt asking whether or not you would like to sit
If you select 'YES', you will sit
If you select 'NO', you will not sit
If you wish to get off the bench, simply press 'A'*
You will then recieve a prompt asking whether or not you would like to get up
If you want to get up, select 'YES'
If you want to continue sitting, select 'NO'
*you must be sitting on the bench to get off the bench

Pokemon has so many seasoned players, all the tutorials and explanations are just ruining the game experience, early game at least.
I know the target audience for pokemon is kids after all, but there can't be that many people that have never ever played a pokemon game before.
Plus, we got around the first gens just fine without tedious tutorials, I cant believe little kids these days can be that stupid.

I don't mind them at all. Kids in all days can be pretty dumb. Still, having the option to skip tutorials would be nice, but It's I don't really feel its something worth getting worked up over.

Skipping tutorials should kinda be standard.
Even if they don't seem to be too hasseling the first time,
there will come times when you WANT to playthrough for reasons, like, nuzlocke, other challenge runs, S&G, whatever,
and the tutorials will become more and more grating.
And you'll be playing through, starting, thinking "fuck yeah, I forgot how awesome this part was"
then BAM! TUTORIALS! and you'll be like
"fuck, I forgot about this shit"

It's a Paper Mario game in name, but not in spirit. Parts of it are pleasantly surprising, but it is not a rewardable experience upon beating it. It's mostly because Intelligent Systems brought over the staff from the Tingle DS games instead of veteran staff members from previous installments.

I own Dream Team, the current one notorious for it's long tutorial process. However, even though I knew most of what they were teaching, It was s still an enjoyable experience. I'm able to looks past my own few seconds of slight annoyance to understand that it will likely be helping someone understand the game better and faster. The fact that you can skip most tutorials of old things also helps, but even if you couldn't I wouldn't really mind all that much.

Well, it's a new feature, I guess they didn't have to handhold you and could've just casually mentioned it, like they do in Animal Crossing, for example.

Kind of like how in Platinum (iirc) they gave you options for learning some basic stuff before the game started, but you could just say that you didn't need any info, and go on with the game. Except maybe with the ability to opt out of being told how battling works, and how to catch a pokemon, and such.

Why do people dislike backtracking? Even then, Skyward Sword didn't even do it that much.

It's a nice feeling to revisit dungeons you've conquered, especially when you can look back at how much progress and skill you've gained since then. That's how I saw it when I was revisiting that Forest Templey place.
