Water and Grass make decent looking Fighting Pokemon. While Fire is thematically a good type match, it just ends up looking like shit.

Maybe. I guess in the end it is not the typing but rather how the look changes into something horrible. A pig who walks on all fours evolves into that bipedal thing? A likable little chick evolves into a humanoid looking freak? I would have let Infernape slide if he was the first because his makes sense but there are many fire/fighting as it is.
