Stat up moves don't force you to relinquish a hold item.
Megavolutions don't seem to be worth all the drawbacks so far.

Yup.

In any metagame, wasting an item and a turn is far too valuable for most Pokemon, even if it makes them into gods of rape. So no, it will hardly affect VGC or Smogon.

But if you were just gonna put certain items on anyway it wouldent really matter. If Mega Lucario's attack boost is about the same as Life Orb, then really the Mega stone might be the better item. It gives me an attack boost, I dont lose health everytime I attack. And I get adaptability. Most Mega Forms seem to get amazing abilities so depending on what stat changes they get really decides if losing an item makes a difference in some ways.

For all you know they could be getting 50+ in their stats, they could end up with >600 BST's. And they almost all have fantastic abilities.

You can't say it not worth it until you know just how much power you're getting in exchange.

Im not saying it wouldent. Simply if a Mega Stone can do just as much if not more then a Life Orb then I think it could be a considerable useful item. It just all depends on the future details we get.
