He's a jolly guy. But he;s shy (shy, not autismal) and doesn't talk a lot (in the games that is). In the new anime, he'll talk a lot and will have a personality comparable to that of your rival in Gen I.

It will all follow Red's progression from just a kid to the pre-eminent trainer of the region along with Blue. This arc will culminate with Red beating the Elite Four and Facing Green as the champion. Then the anime will focus on Gold's rise and Red being absent from both Jotho and Kanto. In the final episodes Gold defeats Lance and becomes the new champion. Then he faces Red at Mt Silver and the anime ends. 10/10 would watch again.

He's specifically not given any dialogue, whenever you battle him they make him say "..." even in pwt where every other character is given dialogue. Gamefreak made him a silent serious character.
