But aside from that these are mostly legitimate reasons.
The Flying type doesn't really give it a lot of moves, it only really hurts Charizard.
And I'm a firm believer of the fact that if there's a Pokemon of the same typing that does the same exact thing, only better, than it's completely stupid to use the original. There's tons of examples of these in Gen 5, where there are older Pokemon that are the same thing but better.
And the Dream World ability was just a bonus. It doesn't make the Pokemon any worse, it just means that there isn't an incentive to get it in Dream World.
It might be bad, as you say, but it's not the most terrible out there. You can get by with a Charizard.
