Well for one we haven't cracked the 3DS entirely(there's that Gateway thing but it's an early WIP at best) and if we can't transfer pokemon we'll have no way of sending hacked or otherwise modified pokemon into the new generation

Just think of it, a generation where IV breeding will be mandatory for competitive play outside of simulators

Because putting a brick on the D-pad to hatch eggs is skill. The only positive I see is that trading threads will have more activity until there's a Pokegen for Gen 6 and up.

The 3DS doesn't need to be hacked. Of course, you won't be able to insert mons directly into your save file, but you're still able to transfer your generated mons via a fake GTS like some people do already now.

Yeah, to be fair, this seems like a grand backfire.

The people who put hours and hours into breeding their mons get hit the most. The hackers could care less since they could just regenerate once a working version of PokeGen is available for X and Y.

Let me just say, I don't condone cheating.

I'm merely saying that no previous gen transfer hurts legit players way more than hackers.

I've always assumed that since GF made games that can transfer to Pokewalkers and giant global features online, then going from DS to 3DS wouldn't seem like THAT much of a hassle. But then again I don't really know 3DS mechanics too well.
