IF RSE are any indication, the game won't sell an extra 10 million units with years. Pokémon now sells faster than it used to be (because dedicated fanbase) but number like RB will probably never be a thing.

Not that there's anything wrong with it anyway, every single Pokémon game was a huge success and sold enough to make any franchise envious. Even Crystal

What I'm curious to see is how it fares against Call of Duty. Naturally, CoD has a huge advantage coming to four platforms vs. XY on the 3DS that, while selling quite well, doesn't even rival the total number of sales of the four platforms for CoD, so we'll be looking at relative comparisons and not actual.

Pokemon didn't even get big everywhere else but Japan until '99; it was the first iteration of a brand new franchise, of course it took some time to build up steam compared to later releases when it was already established.

OP here, I'm worried about that too. I don't see what's so fun about those games but to pretty much everyone I know they're a must have. CoD: Ghost is going to be pretty big and it's definitely going to sell more than X and Y much as I hate to say it.

Pokemon doesn't need to be in fad status again. It's just fine how it is.

So if it doesn't hit Red/Blue levels of sales/popularity, then it really doesn't matter.

Don't forget that 3DS doesnt have the near the install base of Three consoles + PC.

They really aren't in the same realm to be compared, except for being huge, multi-million dollar franchises. What's fun about them(CoD games), I presume, is that people like playing with friends and clan members and its pretty much like a blockbuster movie. I don't play them, but that's what I feel.

No they weren't, '99 was when Pokemon started firing on all cylinders in North America, Europe and Ocean, most of the sales before 1999 came from Japan, where it had already developed name recognition and become a full-fledged hit. It's disingenuous as fuck to compare Black and White's first three year sales to Red and Blue's, considering it took two and a half years for RB to be localized outside of Japan, as opposed to the half a year for BW.
