I'm new to competitive battling and I dont know shit about building a team. I keep getting my shit stomped on GTS(why do they only allow three pokes?) and I dont know why I suck. My friend told me Smogon but he sucks too and everyone talks shit about it here so yeah.

Btw, I like Sawk. It'd be great seeing its attack and speed but this fucker needs a priority move.

Think of a Pokémon you'd like to use and how you'd like to use it. Then, build a team around it to counter its weaknesses and take out counters. You could also read the entries about competitive battling on Smogon.com.

Foretress is probably the best, but it depends on your team. You seem to know your competitive Pokemon pretty well, you're not going to find many people any more knowledgeable than you on /vp/. You'd really be better off on Smogon.

If you use Forretress, a good move to put on it is Volt Switch to gain momentum and to allow it to take a hit and then switch into an offensive Poke. If you have Forretress against a Skarmory, you'd want to just Volt Switch out. As a wall, it gets walled by a lot of other things, but that doesn't really matter since it's supposed to be used defensively.

Then you switch out. It helps to know what things may carry fire moves, and you'd also probably not want to keep it in on special attackers that can even hit it for neutral damage, or use moves like Will-O-Wisp.

i was just suggesting the best way to use sawk, because sadly its outclassed in almost everything. I guess OP could try a salac berry sturdy reversal set or something, i've used it in 1v1 on showdown and its great fun. priority fucks it over though

Poison in 3v3 isn't all that valuable unless you plan on stalling. The only viable Trick Gengar set in GTS would be Trick Choice Scarf to cripple a Pokémon that can't make use of it. Overall, Rotoms a better trick scarfer since it can Volt Switch out if it's against something that can make use of the scarf.
