What do you name your characters in each version? Do you stick with the canon names (Red Green)? Do you use your name? Or do you actually get creative and make new ones?

Currently starting a file on Diamond and I cant even move past name selection. Wtf is happening to me?

In each game I've use either my first, last, or middle name, a few I used the first last or middle name of a fake alias I've always used.

Maybe they'll extend the character limit enough in X/Y that you can name your rival Playerhater. If we get to name any of the rivals.

i use the colors of the games. mostly sticking to the manga names. so in gold and silver i was still gold for example. black and white 2 were hard though since there were no new colors or manga names. i just called myself grey and the rival crimson since that was the color of his jacket and RAGE

I named him Mew in Red because of a fake cheat that would allegedly allow you to play as a Pokemon. I used the name Myu in FireRed.
I named him Neo in Silver because I had just seen the Matrix. I also named him Neo in Soul Silver.
I've named myself Cal in every other game after the guy who you battle in that one place in Viridian City in G/S.

Well, for me, Red is Harper (my fav name), and Blue is Vincent (one of my favs for characters), and I find that both fit them very well.

When I first played pokemon, they were DRAGON and HYDRA, because I was 10.

It varies.

Sometimes I use in-game names.
Sometimes manga names.
And sometimes I make up new names.

I never use my own name, though. I can't do that with characters that don't look like me.
