You might as well just reskin Street Fighter. Lucario could be Ryu, Blaziken is Ken, Hitmonlee is Dhalsim, Hariyama is E. Honda, Mienshao is Chun Li, Machamp is Zangief and so on.

Charizard, Blastoise, Gengar, Kangaskhan, Pinsir, Jynx, Gyarados, Aerodactyl, Mewtwo, Ampharos, Scizor, Houndoom, Tyranitar, Heracross, Gardevoir, Absol, Medicham, Banette, Latias, Latios, Aggron, Abomasnow

taking away Latias, Latios, Gyarodos, that is actually a pretty good list of Pokemon for a fighting game

I honestly like this idea better than a new stadium.
Stadium had the advantage of using any pokemon you wanted, but in reality they did not have that good of a moveset, so was not that much fun.. Battle tower can be done in the handheld, and the minigames were the best.
I feel that we can practically get all of that really easily with a couple VC games for a small price.
I think this is a better idea worth the cash and effort.

(BTW, I didn't like colosseum, fucking used my whole third party memory card)

I am really surprised at that too. Doesn't seem like that much of a nintendo thing to do, specially with SSB coming out. I feel that it is a huge risk, but people will deffinetly buy in.
I also would like them to make a game with a lot of minigames, and a battle revolution-like simulator, that's it. No battle tower, just a shit load of cool minigames, and sell it for 40 dollars.

really do hope they make a pokemon fighting game similar to the DBZ games they make today
it has tons of potential, they wouldnt even have to put a good story into it or add even 10% of all pokemon for it to be a great game, as long as they add enough diversity to the pokemon, a decent amount of pokemon for each type and not just fighting types, and misc things like movepools/items/EVS

I'd prefer something closer to DBZ, I think, but if they did end up doing a 2D fighter, I'd want it to be something like MVC3—teams or no, it's one of the few 2D fighting games I can stand.

I know BT3 wasn't as competitive as other fighting games but it was still fun as hell for me and i'm not even a fan of DBZ
Most people seem to think that there will only be bipeds and physical attacking pokemon in this. If they did it in a BT3 style though I think it would be graphically better, and support for each type, body structures, and even abilities of pokemon. Flying types or mons with levitate would actually be able to fly around, and special attackers would be able to have more intense ranged battles

It seems, to me that it would be something in the planes of SC or DoA. You can move on 3D but not that freely, which i would preffer.

I would like to see all types of pokemon, it would make it extremely interesting and fun, just getting rid of NFE, and some improbable ones, like wailord would be perfect.
I just hope that you can't just win a match by being on a corner, spamming a fire attack

I know what it means, but the fact is Nintendo is still building up a better relationship with Namco Bandai and seeing how they control a 3rd of TPCi, it's very likely they had a part in consulting who would make a good developer.

There are other fighting game makers, granted but there really is no way this was done in house by GameFreak or Nintendo. Craft and Meister was more of a Street Fighter-esque type game developer and DIMPS may be a possiblity but the kind of combo system they had for their Dragon Ball games might not be as elaborate as what they're aiming for here.

I just thought, what if type advantages play a part in the game?

you would get to choose four moves from the move pool of the mon you picked for the battle, and they would be secret from your opponent.

super effective moves would deal increased damage like in the games and not very effective moves would deal reduced damage

status moves could also play a role somehow, and abilities too

this really could be an interesting fighting game if they make it right

I'm not sure I want non-fighting types to be in the game. Even though I don't like fighting types much. To me if a non-fighter started busting out a load of martial arts moves it'd ruin it for me. The only exceptions would be some dark and normal types using slashes, stomps etc.

I could see ditto as a character though, or maybe zoroark.

Take vine whip for example

One grass pokemon could use it as a power move to strike the opponent hard (like perhaps does a combo that sends the opponent flying, then strikes him down hard from a bove

Vine Whip 2 could be uses as a grapple move

Vine whip 3 could be used to extend a combo

really it depends on the pokemon and how one would use that move

From that graphics engine and the camera angle, it's very obviously going to be a 3D fighter, possibly 4 players knowing how Nintendo loves 4 player games.

Probably made by the same guys who are making J-Stars Ultimate, made DBZ Zenkai Battle Royale and Gundam Extreme VS

Which means it will be excellent.

Nintendo confirmed that the CG shot was just "Conceptual" and that it will not represent the final product.

Take it however you want, but they never dismissed the notion of it being a Fighting Game or not! Besides, the camera angle of the two pokemon in the image is just placed in a way reminiscent to how it is in the Main RPG titles! Of course, it could also be a Red Herring, and it was just that, a "Cool Image of Lucario and Blaziken near the Fighting Club from the Pokemon TCG Game Boy title"...

The physic types can use "magic" attacks at short range to imitate punches or whatever. Some of different body type can use other means to mimic punches, or change fighting in unique ways (ex. Smeargle stuns enemies with his paint brush tail or makes them trip by covering the floor with paint film)
There will obviously need to be some serious balancing....hmm...then again this IS Pokémon.....
