Is this really necessary anymore? I can't even remember the last time I couldn't walk into a store on a game's launch day and not get what I was looking for. Especially now that a lot of games launch digitally as well.

The only store that gives you shit, is GameStop, and it is a poster.
Some Walmarts open 24h, so there is that, but no free shit.

I am going for GS. Since is a school day for me, I can just play from 9 till classes begging at 1. I don't find it worth it to stay up till 4am playing it and be dead the next day

Not necessary. I like physical games better than digital, but when you preorder sometimes you get free shit with it.
Sometimes they run out, at my local GS DMC ran out with preorders.

I'm not interested in getting games at a midnight-release. That's COD shit, that's Halo shit, I don't know of anyone who does that for Pokémon. But pre-ordering gets you bonuses.
